Angolan Cunene (Kunene) with an off-road vehicle: looking for info

Hello,
has anyone been to Cunene (Kunene) with an off-road vehicle?
I would like to go there soon and need information and ask some questions please. You can also write to me privately. Many THANKS!

I thank you, but this site does not work for me. It requires me to accept cookies but I do not know how to do it.

Hi,
Angola is a fantastic country. The Cunene region is desert-like with many colourful tribes. You got 2 options: Either you rent a vehicle in Luanda and go south or you rent a vehicle in Windhoek, Namibia and go North. That way you could stop at Etosha for some wildlife - there is not much wildlife around in Angola. Or very alternatively, ever thought about joining a small group? We go on expeditions every year, Angola will be a 24 day trip in May.

I can't go in a group because I want to make a documentary. What worries me is the heat in Cunene and sleeping in a tent is not so easy. But is it dangerous to go with only 1 off-road vehicle or is it better to go with 2 off-road vehicles?
I mean because if it breaks, then it's trouble for you.

Ah ok, I understand. Well, I would always recommend 2 vehicles. Cunene is a very remote area, lots of bad tracks. Depends on where exactly you wanna go. Cunene River Mouth? That is with a guide only anyway. Doodsakker? Also recommended with a guide. Praia dos Tigres? Also only through an operator. The rest you can do on your own, but I would be worried about safety in 1 vehicle. (I mean, no threats from people, but breakdowns. Donīt know how good you know offroading).
