Zanzibar or Lamu?

We are going on a safari to Kenya and Tanzania next summer and we’re thinking of adding either Lamu (Kenya) or Zanzibar at the tail-end to relax for a few days. Has anyone been to either of these places? Would appreciate any recommendations. Thank you!

I've not been although what jumped to my mind for Lamu is the proximity to Somalia; you ought to take a look at the mention of Lamu in this recent UK travel warmings site:. do notice that I post here the UK travelers' warnings government site, not the one from US which often leads to unecceary worry on the part of tourists and travelers.

We have been to Zanzibar for 5 days this September after our 9 day safari in Tanzania. We were at the southeast coast (Jambiani Beach), away from the big resorts. Loved it!

I’ve been to Zanzibar multiple times and absolutely love it — it’s a perfect place to unwind after a safari. Beautiful beaches, great mix of culture and nature, and so many things to do (or not do, if you just want to relax &#128516.

If you end up choosing Zanzibar, you can easily book trusted local services like airport transfers, drivers, or tours at TanzaniaAssist.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions — happy to help!
