I have long been a big fan of Bistro Moncur in Woolhara in Sydney. Not just for the food but also ambience and value for money and the fact it adjoins a pub. Looking for a very similar restaurant in Melbourne where I could host a small birthday gathering of 10 people. Can be a pub restaurant too . Am staying in the Fitzroy area when we arrive but happy to travel within the CBD if necessary. Would welcome any recommendations.

@northie - Thanks for the reply. A decent restaurant similar to Bistro Moncur in terms of costing, ambience, service, etc. Doesn't have to be French but prefer it to be modern European/Australian. With a decent wine list.
