Spanish Immersion Programs in Colombia
I am interested in taking a two week Spanish Immersion course in Colombia in April 2025.
The course includes instruction 1-1 with a tutor for 4 hours a day, excursions, lodging with a family and meals. Airfare is not included. The price for the immersion program is $3700.00 for two weeks. Airfare (from California to Colombia) will be around 1500.00 RT, which I have not purchased yet. I am at an intermediate level of speaking Spanish. So far, only one other student has signed up for the course, who is at an advanced level. The course is offered frequently during other times of the year, which I am contemplating about rescheduling or canceling to another time during the year for various reasons. I have already sent the full $3700.00 but I believe it is refundable if I cancel.
My question is: Has anyone taken an immersion course in Columbia? Was it worthwhile? I have traveled to Mexico many times years ago and attended an immersion course in Mexico and was very happy with it. This particular program is offered through an online Spanish school that I have been enrolled in for 1 1/2 years.
Thank you to all who respond.

Have taken Spanish language courses (immersion and traditional) in Quito, Cusco and Buenos Aires, varying in length between 2 weeks and 6 weeks. But never in Colombia though we have travelled around the country for 2-3 months. In terms of clarity of the accent, I would say that Ecuador was the best followed by Peru . Colombia was fine too, certainly better than Argentina and especially Chile (which I found all but unintelligible!)
In terms of costs $3700 does seem very expensive. Living is inexpensive in Colombia, but it was a while ago so perhaps I am out of date.
"I believe it is refundable if I cancel. " Surprised you did not check before parting with your money! I would never pay up front in advance for such an arrangement and have always arranged on the spot which is usually quickly and easily done. I would also want to meet with the tutor(s) beforehand to make sure we are compatible. I would also want to have a pretty good idea of who I am going to be staying with.

I haven’t taken this course, but a friend went to Bogotá last year and thought $3,700 was a bit high. You might want to check out programs in Medellín or Cartagena for lower costs. The accents are different, but the experience should be similar. Some of my friends went to Colombia and they love it!
