Private driver or airplane to see tulip fields (Netherlands)
Asking for a friend (really).
I just got off the phone with a friend whose Mom is turning 80. She has never seen the tulips in the Netherlands and it's on her bucket list.
My friend and her sister would take Mom. Either one of them could be the driver but they are not sure if they want the hassle of a car especially if they only need it for a few tulips outings.
Any recommendations for a private all day driver?
I also told her that the northern tulips fields are large and glorious and may be a little later in case their trip timing turns out to be slightly off for tulips. I used to follow a photographer who hired a private pilot for his photography but I'll be darned if I can find his contact information (from 2011).
Any recommendations for a private pilot for such an outing, as well?
Thank you for any ideas. Their Mom is mobile but also 80 - IOW being catered to would be important (also why they might not want to drive so that they can both help Mom as needed).

Helicoter flights, not chea!

The Flevoland fields are easier to self drive, and there are some which allow you into the fields, most do not. Around the more traditional area you most certainly are not allowed into the fields, regardless of what Instagrammers and the like think. This is peoples living and plants are wrecked by intruders.
There are plenty of bus tours available as well, and you can hire wheelchairs at Keukenhof, which may be the easiest solution.
Timing is everything and tricky to predict.

The problem with a hot air balloon ride is you have to have perfect weather for it, which is not guaranteed it doesn't take much wind to be too much for a balloon, and the landing can be very bumpy!
Even helicopter rides need a fair amount of decent weather, but are more likely to go ahead.

If the weather's dicey/rainy, I'd want to stay on the ground anyway.
The only negative (for me) to the balloon ride is that it can be chilly. Otherwise, balloon rides are a blast.
Again, just me, but helicopters aren't appealing. Very noisy and can be uncomfortable for people with height issues. Planes can't stay at lower altitudes, so the view is from rather high up. Not necessarily a negative, but it depends on how you want to view the fields.

One of the best views of the fields is as you fly into Schiphol. Small planes generally are not allowed to fly over that area as it is a Schiphol approach.
Drive up to Flevoland and you can see them from the dijk as well from the ground, and a wheelchair around Keukenhof to see them up close.

Beautiful photos Myriam! Thank you! I think they would do well to arrive around either mid-April or maybe the third week. I saw them on Easter Sunday in 2011 and that worked out perfectly.
Thank you so much for the ideas and the links. I will pass these onward!

We stopped for a day mid April 2022 to visit Keukenhof, dropped off our bags at Schiphol left luggage and took the bus straight to the gardens. We spent the morning the, then went to Haarlem for the afternoon/evening before getting back to our Schiphol hotel, flying out to Palermo the next morning.
We did see people with wheelchairs at the Keukenhof entrance, though I didn’t notice them later on in the gardens. A tuktuk tour would be fun if you can find one.

I don't know about balloon rides..I only took them two times.
Burgundy, a side trip from a press trip on a river barge.....Super!!!!! That was a GREAT trip, and the only river trip I ever did in Europe. (Pandaw for two weeks in Burma...another topic)
Kenya....great views but landing was scary and I was in my 30s...the basket tipped over and I was lucky I did not get hurt....
I don't mean to put a damper on anything and with only two ballon rides, I am far from an expert......but just make sure to check out the safety of the landings.....

Of all of the options people have suggested, the tuk tuk sounds like the best of the bunch. Personalized and up close with the possibility to stop when requested for photos. (I have done a hot air balloon elsewhere but the weather and winds have to be absolutely perfect; not going to happen in the Netherlands in the spring. And, you're still just getting the overview rather than close details.)

We took my mom in her first and only balloon ride in Capadoccia. She loved it, but had a hard time getting out, luckily the she was small and the attendant just picked her up like she was a little kid!
I agree with others, a balloon ride could be iffy in Holland in the spring. The tuktuk would be the best option, wheelchair second.

For our trip earlier this year, I followed the forecast websites closely and saw they were predicting an early bloom, which then dictated my trip dates. The peak can vary by several weeks. Once the flower fields peak, farmers will cut the heads off.
Agreed that flying in/out AMS great view if from south. Even some good views from along the highway.
Keukenhof Gardens changes out their flowers so they will have blooms throughout the advertised period but with more of other flowers before the tulips. Plenty of paved paths for the wheelchair. I would advise them to go to the gardens at opening or end of day. We had almost private experience until about 10:30am, then it was like a Disneyworld crowd until about 3:00pm on a weekday. They could even go twice--once late afternoon and then the next morning.
A private driver would be a good idea. We tried to walk along suggested farm routes outside the gardens and it was harrowing with the trucks, buses, cars, and bicycles on narrow road. There are farms where you pay admission to go into the field, get refreshments, take photos, etc.
We didn't make it to the northern fields so I can't compare there.
