August Itinerary Help: 3 days with 3 small kids
Hello! My family (two adults and three kids 6,3, and baby) will be returning to Italy this August for some time in Tuscany with friends. We have a few unplanned days at the start of our trip and hoping to find some helpful advice or recommendations. We land on the holiday of August 15 in Venice or Rome and have the option of picking up a car at the airport or just before our time in Tuscany. Mid-August obviously isn't exactly ideal but we don't mind the heat and we are working with what we've got!
We previously spent a month with only one child based in Rome with side trips to Florence, Venice, Orvieto, and Capri. We'd be happy to return to any of these (Orvieto struck us as livable with kids, maybe not Capri right now) or try somewhere new... Dolomites? Lake Como? Veneto? Lucca? Bologna/Modena? If Siena didn't have the Palio during our stay I think it could be a perfect place to meander, maybe it still could be if we just escape on the 16th? With three young children we're looking for something relatively easygoing and approachable. Thank you all for any advice, input, etc!
