November in southern Italy and or Sicily
Looking to vote early here in the US and then get the heck out for most or all of November. Thinking it might be a good time to finally see a bit of Italy as only half of us has been at all in our well travelled retirement. Have been intimidated by stories of crowded summers and shoulder seasons. Hence November in the south. Looking for ideas and inspiration. We enjoy all the usual and are big walkers. We likely won’t rent a car….

Yes, we couldn’t go to Piazza Amerina, which absolutely requires a car, also a few other places in central Sicily. Apart from that we found public transportation convenient and comfortable, no issues whatsoever.

There are 4 daily buses from Palermo to Piazza Armerina. Journey time 2 hrs.
The Roman villa of Casale is a 10 min taxi ride from Piazza Armerina.
