Hi all, 3 of us (experienced snow/ice drivers) are coming to Iceland end of March 2024. We are renting a car, we know roads can be bad, so we do NOT want to push our time or be in a hurry. Looking for leisurely, allowing for the unexpected. Can you critique my itinerary? Am I spending too much time in places? Should I allow more time in others? Also, I'd love hotel recommendations (budget friendly for 3 late 30's/early 40's). Primary goal: Northern Lights!! But I have a lot of the sites on each drive listed.

Day 6

Jokulsarlon- Midgard Base camp? (3 hour 19 min)



Day 7

Midgard Base camp?-Reykjavik (1 hour 34 min)

Given you have good chunk of time, I would consider adding Snćfellsnes peninsula as a day trip from Reykyavik. Probably feels hurried up but it was an amazing drive and Kirkjufell is also there.
