Costa Rica Lodging for One Night Gap

First time to Costa Rica in early December. We only have about 10 days so this will be just a "taste" of what Costa Rica offers. Our plan is 3 nights in Manuel Antonio, 3 nights in Papagayo Peninsula. We're ending our trip at the Arenal Observatory Lodge but I was only able to reserve 3 nights so I have a one night gap. Any suggestions for the one night after Papagayo Peninsula and before AOL?

Have you thought about staying somewhere closer to town for a night when you go to the Arenal area? AOL is amazing but pretty far from town off a long, bumpy road. I'd consider staying somewhere with natural hot springs since those are popular in the area. You could do a guided hike at the Bogarin Trail and then enjoy an evening at the hot springs. Tabacon is popular. Silencio del Campo is also popular.

Thank you volcanogirl! That's sounds like a good plan. One more question...our flight back to the US leaves San Jose about 2:30pm. Are we okay staying at AOL the night before and leaving that morning or should we stay closer to San Jose?

It should be okay if you leave early. It's about a three hour drive, and they advise you to get to the airport three hours before your flight time. Hope you have an amazing trip!
