Costa Rica - Restaurants not too miss!!

Hello all! We are traveling from San Jose to Savegre to Manzanillo to Sarapiqui to Arenal to Monteverde to Papagayo. We will be driving ourselves and I am trying to find restaurants/sodas that will be interesting and tasty! Does anyone have any recommendations?

It has been about 13 years, but we spent several days in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. One of the highlights was dinner at La Pecora Nera. Fine Italian dining, so I am not sure if this is what you are interested in. There was also a great little cafe we went to for breakfast. I can’t remember the name. 🤔

For the drives between locations, our approach is to stop at busy, open air places - we don't plan ahead, just find something that looks promising along the way. We've had great luck that way.

In La Fortuna, I like Soda la Hormiga and Arabigos Coffee. We also had some good beer and pretty decent food at La Fortuna Pub.

In Puerto Viejo de Talamanca - 2nd the recommendation for Bread and Chocolate. The restaurant at Banana Azul is good. We had food and beers at a couple places right along the water in Puerto Viejo, but I can't remember the names - those were more about location though than food. The food was fine though - we have never found bad food in CR yet.
