I would like to take a trip to HH and stay in a condo type rental within walking distance to the beach. Had stayed there years ago, but just can't remember the name of the place. Any suggestions?

We recently stayed in this condo for a month and loved the condo and the location. Super comfortable & spacious for the 2 of us. Would comfortably fit 4. Walked miles on the beach every day (<10min away), walked to great supermarket (Harris Teeter), and along the walk/bike paths around the area.

I've used Marriott timeshares twice, you can look into renting from an owner through a site like Redweek. We liked Monarch the best, there are about 7 Marriotts there and they are all 2bd with a full kitchen and jacuzzi.

We go to LItchfield/Pawley's Island just south of Myrtle Beach. Beautiful places to stay on the ocean, great seafood to eat in Murrell's Inlet and Pawley's. Good shopping. Sightseeing in Georgetown and Brookgreen Gardens. Quiet. Good golf and tennis.
Look up Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort for one possibility. And there are VRBO listings.

For natural beauty try Edisto but actually if you want facilities, restaurants together with what’s left of a Sea island feel then HH is OK. It’s. It’s very busy but has lots of restaurants.
Depends on your budget but Kiawah isn’t all about golf , it’s stunningly beautiful very low key but very expensive. They have retained development within the natural environment. The Southern beach area away from the golf is so pristine , it doesn’t look real. Lots of wildlife, dolphins strand feeding.
We also love the local, rural feel of John’s Island closer to Charleston. Great food.
We miss SC so much.....bloody Covid. Autumn isn’t the same without blue skies and low country food.

HH during the height of covid and low season was a perfect 1mo getaway for us from the frigid north. But I agree with Gretchen that it is all the same and zero soul.....Since we were there pre-vaccine we kept to ourselves except for grocery shopping and didn't dine out except for once for fresh from the waters oysters in Bluffton, and once for "the best seafood on the island", at Benny Hudsons. Very forgettable generic fish & chips with slow, forgetful service.
Towards the end of our month the crowds started to appear and you could understand why everything was cookie cutter/beach vacation generic.

It looks very attractive until you realize it is ALL you see for miles!! Interestingly (to me) the apartment house our daughter lived in in Oxford Ohio (Miami U.) looked exactly like all the ones in HH!!
Really, the best seafood at any place you choose is in Murrell's Inlet just north of Pawley's Island.

We have stayed on Pawleys Island several times, Hilton Head Island twice, and Edisto Island once. We have never been to Kiawah Island but we have plans to go there this year. And we decided to spend a few days in Pawleys Island, too.
The last time we stayed on Hilton Head Island, it was late November. So the beach was not our main attraction. But we drove to Savannah twice, and ended our trip with a couple of nights in Charleston. And we enjoyed our time on Hilton Head as well.
I think it really depends on how you hope to spend your time. Hope you find something that works for you!
