Okinawa, Japan

We would really like to do a 3 day trip to Okinawa during our upcoming trip to Japan (& take out our initial plan to Takayama). Is mid to end May a good time to go? Some sites show rainy season starts end of May.
Which island would be easiest to get to and how?
Which island has beaches with clear water and soft sand?

Rainy season in the main islands starts at the beginning of June, so it would be earlier in Okinawa.

May would be a very good time to go to Takayama.

When it rains in Okinawa islands like Ishigaki and Miyako...does it rain all day? is it pouring? Or are there chances of sunshine in between?

I don't know.

So an average of 9.9 inches of rain in May and 11 inches in June.

That town averages 3.6 inches of rain in May and there will be spring flowers and green trees.
