Scenic drives on Long Island

We will be on Long Island in October and would like to take some scenic drives, particularly on the North Shore. Any information or help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm still thinking about. There are some nice shore towns, but scenic drives, no.

There is more to Long Island than the LIE and Sunrise Highway.

Ever been to the NORTH FORK..to New Suffolk or Orient? Or Greenport? Tomorrow is "Tumbleweeed Tuesday" so should be quiet from now on......gorgeous out here. Orient Country Store closed until Friday am. I wish fewer people thought it was less scenic...believe me!

Driving in the North Fork is scenic and will be very nice come October. I particularly like to drive along New Suffolk Avenue from Mattituck through to Cutchogue before continuing east on 25 all the way out to Orient.

Another pleasant drive is along Ocean Parkway which runs along the Jones Beach peninsula with the Atlantic Ocean on one side of you and the bay on the other. You can take that to the Robert Moses Causeway which runs above the Great South Bay and gives you great views.
