Moremi Game Reserve Botswana - Temps?

Hi, we are booked with A&K for a River and Rail Safari from Cape Town ending @ Sanctuary Chief's Camp in Botswana (Moremi Game Reserve in the Ovakango Delta).

We are scheduled to travel end of December into first week of January. Thoughts on how hot it will be? Is it much cooler at night in the mornings? I've checked weather underground to see last years temps during that time and they vary.

If anyone has been to these parts during that time of year, any info is appreciated!

I've never been during those months (you do know it will be humid and might rain a lot at times, right? So bring rain gear just in case) but I have been during other seasons. I imagine up to the 90sF in the daytime and high 60s-70s at night during your visit.

Happily for you, Chief's (I think) has a/c. Definitely cooler for the early morning game drive and into the evening drive. Moremi is fabulous! I've been to Stanley's and to Mombo and the game viewing was some of the best, ever.

Thanks ekscrunchy! Yes, we already know that it's start of rainy season and will be hot as well as rainy, however, we were asking for some "real experience" advice, from someone who has actually traveled there during that time, if it is cold in the morning or just a light rain jacket is sufficient so as not to be too hot within an hour or so, etc.

Again, I do realize, that no one can predict the weather (or winning lottery numbers...)

Again I've not been at that time of year, but I would expect that Chief's would give you warm ponchos if it is cold early morning. They do this at other camps..why not write directly to Chief's while awaiting someone else's response, who has been there at that time of year.... Will this be your first time out in the bush in southern Africa?

Hi, yes, our first time in Africa, let alone on a Safari, etc. Bucket list trip I will contact A&K, as I'm pretty sure they have been there at that time of year, thanks for the good tip! Can't believe I didn't think of that.
