Paris 8 days then where? +7 days December?

We are spending 8 days in Paris in early December then have 7 more days til we fly out of CDG. Been to France numerous times but this seems to be the off season in a lot of places. What suggestions for easy access via train and rental car that is great to visit that time of year? Not too interested in Christmas markets etc. but don't want to go somewhere that has closed up for the season either. Would consider going outside France as well.

Take the TGV, just 2 hours to Lyon.

Welcome on board!
Dijon capital of Burgundy is 1h40 from Paris by train and very lively in December. Architecture, history, museums, churches, food market, parks, gastronomy are waiting to be enjoyed there.
And if you rent a car you may add visits to the wine coast and the numerous and famous villages between Dijon and Beaune. And visit Beaune and its old hospital(Hospices) of course.

Belgium??? You have time to get to Brussels, Ghent, Antwerp and maybe Bruges. Excellent museums, good food, easy train connections.

I agree London (only about 2.5 hours by EuroStar fast train), and Amsterdam (around 3 hours by Thalys fast train) are both excellent destinations. So much to do in London.

We've been living in Paris for a few years, and we've had a great time every time we go to Italy. Whether it's Rome, Venice, Milan, or Florence, there're always friendly people, great Roman, Medieval, and Renaissance sights, and good food.

Another option is Berlin, with a great set of museums, good walking tours (actually walking tours are great in all these cities), interesting history on the Wall, and a happy young vibe.

Bruxelles is hell hole according to Trump.
If you voted for him don't come.
Bruxelles Can keep you busy for 2 days easily but one day is a minimum. Gent is a gem and Brugge is iconic.

If going by train to London, Belgium, Amsterdam, Dijon, etc be sure to book your rail tickets well in advance to snag deep discounts - www.voyages-sncf.com for trains in France; www.thalys.com for trains Paris to Belgium and Amsterdam and www.eurostar.com for Chunnel trains to London. Check www.seat61.com for lots on booking own train tickets; general info on trains and where to go with them: www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com.

Amsterdam never closes down and has so much to offer - world-class museums; city beauty; night life for all tastes and just 3.5 hrs by train from Paris - stop in Belgium en route.

Italy would be warmer and all but since they have to return to Paris to fly home would take time and money each way. London is just over 2 hours - amsterdam over 3 and tickets for each can be cheaper than even discounted airlines.
