Nice

We have a 10 hour layover from 12:20 pm. Plane departs at 10:15. Any suggestions to do? Stay in Nice or has time to go to Monaco in the afternoon and back to nice to spend another couple of hours before we head to the airport. Any suggestion how to make it doable. What mode of transportation to Monaco and back. Appreciate inputs. I have an 8 and 16 y/ o children with my husband.

I'd probably spend the time in Nice but you could catch the train to Monaco, it's a straightforward trip. In Monaco there are the yachts in the marina to gawk at and we stumbled on a great vintage car museum, I think they were Prince Rainier's cars. We enjoyed an afternoon there but there's plenty to do in Nice, there's the Old Town, shopping, a walk along the esplanade, a fantastic Russian Cathedral, views over Nice from above, etc.

There is so much to do in Nice and so little to see in Monaco, I'd stay and enjoy the whole day in Nice. Shopping, stroll the boardwalk at the beach, great food.

I agree, I have been to Monaco several times (I used to live in Nice) and found it boring, and my family were disappointed with it as well when we visited. I have no idea what your interests are, but in addition to the previous suggestions you could for example hire rollerblades on the Promenade des Anglais, walk up the castle hill at the end of the Promenade for views over the city, go to the Matisse or Chagall museums in Cimiez (or my favourite - see the Roman ruins next to the Matisse museum, free entry through the archaeological museum) etc.

You are too time challenged to easily do this.

Go to Monaco a lot on business but never intentionally expensive tax cheat haven Nice closer better.
eurocheapo.com/nice for 4 euro catch the shuttle to the Negresco and spend your layover around the Promenade d'Anglais far prettier and closer.

I would spend the day in Nice.It is a lovely city to walk.
You can also take a 1 hour boat cruise from the port that will show you the beautiful coast line from NICE to MONACO.It is a very pleasant cruise.

The cruises leave at 11 and 3 every day but Monday
