We went on a country tour -- fruit plantation, tile factory, very remote beach and BBQ lunch; also did a sunset cocktail cruise thru the bays; would recommend the fat mermaid resturant (can't remember the spanish name); if you go to Ixtapa, the Golden Cookie is great for breakfast or lunch, would highly recommend El Faro for dinner - reasonable, good food, excellent view.

There are 2 or 3 casual restaurants on La Ropa beach. Their menu is basically grilled fresh fish, rice and vegetables--simple, but good. Prices are reasonable too. I think the largest is called "Rossy". It's in the middle of La Ropa. The other two are at the far end. Similar menus, prices, etc.

There is a wonderful small hotel at the Zihua end of La Ropa called La Casa Que Canta ("The House That Sings"). It's restaurant and bar are open to the public after 6:00P.M. It's a great place for a drink and appetizer. Or dinner. (I didn't eat there.) Perhaps more formal than you suggest(no shorts for men, I think, in the restaurant), but I'd still consider it "low key" compared to Ixtapa.

Another first class hotel on La Ropa is Villa del Sol, which has a very pleasant pavilion-style bar.

Because it's post-spring break, it will be quiet on La Ropa.
There are several restaurants on La Ropas beach, even Italian, La Dolce Vita, all casual, VDS being the most expensive. Elviras at north end is good & Las Gaviotas. Also in town, Coconuts & Casa Elvira at the marina. I don't care for fish & I had a huge selection of other entrees, except for Las Palmas, which only served fish.
