Where do you go for the best package deals?

Has anyone gotten a great deal on a mexico vacation? If so, where did you find it? (Web-site or phone number please). I would only consider going this March if I can get a great deal on a nice place for us and our 2 children. Any ideas for me?

Cheri, Please mention where you are leaving from _ some tour companies depart from only some cities _ and a rough idea of where you'd like to go (there are so many beaches in Mexico) And maybe an idea of what your budget might be? Also, you probably already have thought of this, but March is peak spring break season for college and high school kids, and some of the major resorts (Baja, Cancun and Mazatlan especially) will have a lot of springbreakers and may not be much fun for a family, and prices may not be at their lowest.

That said, personally, I've found my best prices by buying flights through a charter company, then arranging my own hotel at a smaller independent place. My favorite parts for beaches are the stretch between Tulum and Playa del Carmen.

I am midway between New York airports and Hartford, so can fly from either. I have no choice but to go in March as that is when my kids have their winter vacation.

Cheri,

The 2nd poster was right about Spring Break, this is the last place you want to be in Feb-March! Especially if you have young children! The price are VERY high for the resorts and for airfare!

We always book our trip to the Palace Resorts from this website,
www.get-me.to/cancun

They have the cheapest rates, if you look even their prices are high from Jan- April but this is prime season to go! The best time would be before Christmas or after August cheapest rates!

Hi
Even if you have to go in March you can avoid most of the "spring breakers" by going south of Cancun. Playa Del Carmen has many nice family type resorts. Akumal is even less crowded and is very pretty. Check out the locogringo.com web site.

From Chicago we've used www.applevacations.com for a complete package to Cancun and www.funjet.com to book airfare and then booked the hotel separately through www.travelocity.com for Puerto Vallarta.

I think with Apple you have to use a travel agent but their site listed the deals and itineraries. It was also easier to have the agent book the Funjet charter flight as the search function on the site isn't the best.

We've been to Cancun during March and the spring breakers are everywhere. You might consider another less frequented spring break Mexican destination or by going south of Cancun as was suggested.
I actually wasn't considering Cancun - I was their twice on Biz trips and even though we stayed at the Ritz Carlton, hated it. I was thinking of going south, to Playa del Carmen of Akumal. I'll keep checking Apple's Sizzlen Specials. Right now they only have deals through the end of January. I guess I'll just wait until they discount March.
