taxi from PVR
Hi,
I've read about people 'crossing the bridge' from the airport to get cheaper taxis. is this really worth it?
we're starying at the Mayan Grand in Nuevo Vallarta. any idea what taxis cost from the airport or to get in to town?
thanks for your help!

Dear fffi:
We just got back from PV several weeks ago and also stayed at the Grand Mayan.
I will top our trip report for you(unless you already read it). We paid $15(150 pesos) over the bridge. I can't really tell you if we got a deal, but you could compare at the airport before crossing the highway.
Have fun in PV!!

There used to be more of a price difference between the airport regulated taxis (white) and the regular local ones (yellow) but in recent years the drivers have caught on and the savings is less. Whether it's worth it depends IMO on how many people, how much luggage, etc.
Since you have Michelle's price it wouuld be easy to check at the taxi ticket booth and ask the price and decide at that point if it's worth exiting the airport on foot and finding your own taxi.
Also you could ask your resort what you should expect to pay for taxi fare from the airport as one more price to compare.

For a driver, On January 9, 2006, I used Benny who has a booth to sell tickets. He is in Old town by the Lazaro Cardenas park (Ocean side). His booth is next to Burro's Bar. For the entire day he drove us around. We went as far as Guayabitos stopping at Sayulita, San Francisco just to name a couple. Great information, English speaking and he gives fair deals on all tour tickets.
