Good places for Semana Santa in Mexico and Central America?
I know Antigua, Guatemala is famous for Semana Santa.
What other locations have good celebrations? How about San Cristobal de las Casas (which I have visited before, but happily would again)?
(I suspect Leon, Nicaragua does too.)
I might visit the region at that time, and where I go will be a combined decision of convenience, cost, and culture. I've made numerous trips to Mexico and one to Nicaragua.

In 2013 and 2015 I spent 3-4 weeks around Semana Santa in San Pedro La Laguna on Lake Atitlán in Guatemala. I know it's not a famous spot for that but it's an incredible, culture-rich celebration there, very traditional. Here are blog posts in case you or anyone else wants to check them out. Hope you find what you're looking for!

That looks great. I definitely will consider that.
I looked at flight prices, and Guatemala is very expensive (not surprisingly) for that time period. TGZ in Chiapas looks by far the cheapest in Latin America then.

The prices I mention above from PDX are the cheapest I've seen to GUA in decades. I can find them from YVR, too, but the itineraries aren't great. If cost of airfare is a priority, looks like Chiapas will be hard to beat. I spent a few weeks there in June/July 2010 and really enjoyed it but it's Guatemala that we've chosen as our special place to return to over and over. Have a great trip, whatever you decide!
