Caracaos Vacation
My father-in-law from England is coming to visit us in Phoenix, but is planning a side trip to Caracao. Does anyone have any suggestions on hotels/airfare, etc. It looks to me like the best way is to fly to Phoenix with a stop at JKF and fly to Caracao from there?? Also, forgive my ignorence is geography but is Caracao and Caracas the same? Because I am reading a lot of bad things about Caracas? ANY help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!! He has asked me to help him book this for him and I don't want to mess it up!!! THANKS!!!
Hi Mary -
Caracas is in northern Venezuela, while the island of Curacao (which is the island east of Aruba and west of Bonaire) is in the Southern Caribbean, about 40 miles away from the South American continent & Venezuela. Curacao forms part of the ABC islands of the Netherlands Antilles. This would quite a side trip for your father-in-law! As for airfares, you might want to check out www.travelocity.com (or some other online travel service) for airfares, hotels, etc. once his destination is confirmed.

Haven't been to Caracas, but we just returned last week from a week of fun and sun in Curacao-found the island very safe, friendly and quite enjoyable. There are plenty of things to see and do, in addition to enjoying the beautiful beaches and the Caribben.

If you have any questions about Curacao, you can e-mail me directly, or post here. Would be happy to help !!

Hi Jeff - Wouldn't say there's much of a nightlife on Curacao-at least that we found. It's on the quieter side.

There's a few (maybe 8) casinos scattered around the island-all connected to a hotel-but they're small (maybe a room or two at most)and tend to be quiet to.

The hotel will usually have a weekly manager's party - we skipped the one at our hotel, but chose to go out to dinner instead.

Would suggest posting your question on the official Cuaraco website at www.curacao.com - maybe you'll get more encouraging news from that end.
