I used Cosmos/Globus for a tour of Brazil in 1997. At that time, it was the only one I could find that does Brazil for about 2 weeks and covered Rio, Iguassu Falls, Manaus/Amazon and an extension to Recife. Other tour companies did cities in South America.

Just returned from Brasil. Would recommend you not waste money on a tour guide in Iquassu. The falls are beautiful and the trails are easy to follow. We hired a driver for $80 US He drove us to both the Brasilian side and Argentine side and waited even while we had lunch at the falls. There is a small fee for entrance into the park on each side. There were 4 of us so it was $20 a piece. We started at 8:30 am and returned at 6:30 pm. This service was door to door and saved lots of time and fee negogiating. One full day was plenty of time. In Rio there are lots of options. We used the Rio City bus for a 72hr. pass on buses that were air-conditioned and comfortable. There are 48 different stops on 4 bus lines. The price included the trams and admission to Sugarloaf Mtn and the train and admission to Christ the Redemmer/ Corcovado. The cost is R30 or US15. Bus stops are well maked and there is a timetable. If you want a more organized formal tour any 4 or 5 star hotel has info. You do not have to be a guest to sign up. The organized tours include lots of sights but I personally cannot stand the lack of time at each location and the feeling of being part of a herd. There are plenty of people selling tours in the airport and the street. Be careful of them and don't jump on the first one that sounds too good. It probably is. If you have time get to Salvador de Bahia. It's the best. Have fun

Hey BJ, if you have like more than 3 weeks here, you can buy in Brazil packages tours in our money R$ Real, it will be less expensive. Now the rate is US$ 1 = R$ 2,5. I would suggest Rio, Bahia and Fortaleza, if you like beaches. If you prefer nature and jungle, go to Amazon and Pantanal. Have fun !
