I don't think that Amaranto is a B&B, but it's owned by the same people who own the Tamarindo B&B. We stayed at Amaranto for a few days in March 2000 and loved it. Location was good, very central, but in a small 'compound' so very secure. The unit had a very high palapa style roof, with good ceiling fan and very quiet and good A/C as well. The place was decorated very nicely, very clean. The bathroom was nicely tiled and you could look up the shower and see the sky. The owners also had a charming little cat who shared a siesta or 2 with us. We had a microwave, coffee maker, bar fridge, so it was great for breakfasts, etc. There's a small 'dipping' pool on the property.

I would definitely stay there again. I've been to Cozumel a few times and I think this was my favourite place.

Thanks for the info, Susan.
Is the Amaranto centrally located? Is it close to restaurants and the pier?
How many cats do they have? Unfortunately, I'm allergic to cats

Amaranto is very centrally located and it's close to restaurants, grocery stores, etc. I thought the location was perfect. You're just a couple of blocks from the main drag along the waterfront and maybe 3 blocks south of the main square. (Unfortunately I'm terrible with street names!) It's a 'complex' of 4 or 5 little bungalows, surrounded by a wall. There is a locked gate to go through to get into the complex.

At that time, there was just one cat. We're 'cat people' and are always on the lookout for them, so we were thrilled when he decided to join us for our siesta. But I doubt he'd have come in to join us if we hadn't been so friendly to him (he jumped in through our window). Because you have your own unit, I don't think you'd need to worry if you're allergic.
