Akumal condos--Hotel Akumal Caribe's Cannon House?

Hi--
I was wondering if anyone has stayed at Cannon House, the condo associated with Hotel Akumal Caribe? It sits at the end of Akumal Bay beach, close to Half Moon Bay. I was wondering if this would be a (relatively) quiet location? I also have a possibility of staying at a condo on Half Moon Bay, but at the farther side away from Akumal Bay, and I was hoping to spend most of our beach time at Akumal Bay, as I hear it's the better beach for swimming, since I have young kids, so I wonder if that would be too long a walk. I guess my 2 concerns are, I hear people are happy w/the hotel akumal caribe, but i never hear reviews of cannon house itself, and also, I want to make sure it's not in too busy an area. Although it looks somewhat removed from the main centers of activity, I can't tell by looking at the maps what else might be around it. Can anyone advise? TIA!

Chiggy,
Check out this website: locogringo.com. These folks live in Akumal (lucky ducks!) They've got lotsa info and a fantastic site, including labelled arial photos of the condos and beaches. Also pose your questions on their talk forum and you'll get tons of responses. We're headed to Akumal on the 24th and we'll be staying at one of the Hotel Akumal Caribe's bungalows. (We finish our vacation in Playa del Carmen.) We've never been to Akumal, tho we have been to Playa twice before. 13 days and counting!!!

At locogringo click on lodgings, then touch on Condominiums, then click on In Akumal -- there's a whole page on Cannon House. And touch on maps, click on aerials and click on Akumal for a photo of Cannon House from above. And the forums will give you plenty of advice. Enjoy!

We checked out the Cannon House when we were there, and I think it would be great. We stayed at a Hotel Akumal Caribe cabana, but we plan on reserving the Cannon House if we ever go back.

It has a great location where you can watch the action at the bay, but it's located in a quiet area. You also have access to the Hotel Akumal Caribe swimming pool, if you want to do that for a change.

If you stay there, please come back and tell us how it was!

I stayed at Las Villas Akumal about a year and a half ago with my then 10 month old. Rented it through www.locogringo.com. it was perfect- nice beach right outside your doorstep, nice pool, and daily maid service. The one bummer of it was that to walk into Akumal by beach it was kind of rocky. We did it several times with our kid in a backpack. We also rented a car, and that drive took about 3 minutes. From most of the condos you are talking about on half moon bay it would be about a 20 minute walk to the main part of Akumal.
