Hi Tommy:

I'm traveling to Cancun (first time) in 2 weeks. I'm interested in your website and information, if any, on The Moon Palace.

Thanks,

Rho

tommy Oct 11th, 2000 09:55 PM

The Moon is a very nice resort. It's huge with the Moon and Sunrise right next to each other. You get the use of all the Palace resorts which is nice. That way you can see most of Cancun. The pool at the Moon is one of the nicest there is. Here's the only draw backs that I have heard. First people have gotten bumped from the Moon to one of the other Palace resort and the other thing is the seaweed that collects on the beach, even though they clean it up every day. Hope this helps
If you have more questions email me. I have a friend leaving this weekend to the Moon so I'll have some more info soon.

Tommy
www.geocities.com/travel_with_tommy

I will be staying in Cancun and would like to go to Isle Contoy. The tour books suggest that it is better to leave from Isle Mujueres. Do you know of any tour boats that make this journey? I know that there is a ferry that will take me to Isle Mujueres.

alex Oct 12th, 2000 02:06 PM

how do I get to your website.....??

thanks.. I may move there as my company is relocating there. any tips is it boring??? seems small I was there for 2 days???

tommy Oct 12th, 2000 07:47 PM

Hey Leslie, Try www.cancunalltours.com
they offer the Isla Controy tour and I believe it is from Cancun. Cost is $66US.

Have Fun

Tommy

Astrid Oct 12th, 2000 07:51 PM

I was wondering if you knew anything about Iberostar in Playa Del Carmen. My fiancé and I are going for our honeymoon in January and are curious as to what others think about this place. We have heard nothing but good except for one response. Thanks!

tommy Oct 12th, 2000 07:52 PM

Hey Alex, to get to my website just highlight the address and copy it then paste it in your web browser or just simply type the address in

www.geocities.com/travel_with_tommy

About moving there. I would even hesitate. There is plenty to do. Cancun is growing larger and larger by the day. There is always something to do in the Hotel Zone, plus Playa and Isla Mujeres are just a bit away.

Hope this helps

Tommy

Hi Tommy, can you tell me if June or July is a better time to visit Cancun. I'm going as a family vacation and definitely need to go during school vacation, but unfortunately due to health situations, over 80 degrees can be a problem for me. I;m definitely going to check out your website after this, but first, I really wanted to stay at the Cancun Palace, but don't want to be bumped, how do I avoid that?, and are there anyway of getting any special deals through them, I've tried, but it seems almost impossible. Thanks, Roni

Michelle Oct 25th, 2000 07:35 AM

Tommy, which hotel has bigger balconies:
Ritz or Marriott in Cancun?

Janet Oct 26th, 2000 01:02 PM

Hi Tommy,
Nice of you to offer this service! Do you be any chance know anything about the Robinson Club Tulum? I'm planning a trip there in February with my family and am wondering about the beach, food, activities, etc. Can you help?

tommy Oct 27th, 2000 08:11 PM

Hey Roni,
Well the only thing is that the weather is usually always in the 80's or warmer.
I'll be there in Dec. and the highs still run in the mid 80's. As for June or July, June will be a little cooler than July by about 4 or 5 degrees. As for the Cancun Palace, you shouldn't have too much of a problem with hotel about getting bumped. The Moon and Moon Sunrise have that problem. Just make sure when you book your hotel that the travel agent makes sure and tell the resort that you will only stay there.
Cancun Palace is my favorite of all Palace Resorts.

Hope this helps

Tommy
tommy Oct 27th, 2000 08:15 PM

Hey Michelle,

The Ritz I believe has the bigger. It is a very, very nice hotel.

Tommy

tommy Oct 27th, 2000 08:27 PM

Hey Janet,

The Robinson Club is a wonderful resort. The beach is very beautiful with lots of area to sun. It is set like an Eco-Park with its lush and dense surroundings. All rooms come with a private balcony with hammock, 2 double beds. The Robinson Club has a boutique, mini-market, silver shop, crafts, car rental and a nurse and doctor on call. Theme nights range from Mexican fiestas to Greek feasts and will enhance your dining experience. They also offer snorkeling, scuba, windsurfing and many more water activities. The food is pretty good especially at the Mayan restuarant.

Hope this helps

Tommy

Tommy what is the off season for Cancun? What do you think of just spending a long weekend there (we're from DC) or is that just rushing it a bit. And what 4-5 star hotel is your fav. Sorry to ask such moronic questions. Thank you for your help.

tommy Oct 28th, 2000 10:25 PM

Hey there,

Off season runs from about Sept. to right before Christmas. It's a great time to visit especially in Nov. and early Dec. Long weekends are a great getaway especially in Cancun(anytime there is great). My favorite hotel is the Flamingo. The service, food and beach are very, very wonderful. Also you might checkout the Crown Paradise, another very nice resort.

Hope this helps

Tommy

Stan Nov 5th, 2000 01:32 PM

TO: alex ([email protected])

What? You get to LIVE there? Is your company hiring? Take me along! I'd LOVE to find a way to be able to live there. Any suggestions are invited...
If you like a perfect climate, low crime rates, nice people and great food; you're gonna love it. Good luck and best wishes!

Kathy Goerke Nov 6th, 2000 07:32 AM

Hi Tommy, would like to surprise husband and three young kids with a tropical vacation when school is out in June. Don't know anything about Cancun, my only experience in Mexico has been a 5-day stay at Acapulco Princess many years ago and my husband was sick for 2 months after we returned. He'd probably kill me if I booked another Mexican vacation, but I hear Cancun is not the same problem (water). What can you tell me, and what is the best place to take kids--want to be with other families and lots to do, don't want to be bored!! Please let me know.

tommy Nov 6th, 2000 09:17 PM

Hey Kathy,
Cancun has a purified water system, so the water is safe to drink, but the hotels have plenty of bottled water so that's what I go with. Also a good thing to do is taking some Pepto or Pepcid along for upset stomach(just incase). As for places to stay the best family reort would be the Crown Paradise. Beautiful resort and has a wonderful kids waterpark and lots of fun activities. Another one would be the Yalmakan.

Hope this helps

Tommy

Nancee Nov 6th, 2000 10:17 PM

Hi Tommy!

Going to CLUB MED CANCUN in December for the first time with my boyfriend.
It's our FIRST trip together (uh oh!!), and I don't want anything to go wrong.
So, I'm reaching out you as an expert on Cancun, and to share with me (or warn me) whatever information, experiences, and/or advice you may have on Club Med Cancun. Also, please enlighten me with your expertise on Cancun: whatever I should do, should bring, need to get while I'm there, don't get while I'm there, do while I'm there, don't do while I'm there, etc., etc.

Thank you Tommy in advance!

tommy Nov 7th, 2000 08:26 AM

Hey Nancee,

Well first Club Med is a wonderful resort. It is very secluded. The best snorkeling in Cancun is right at you door step as the reef starts right off the Club Med beach. I have never stayed there personally but have heard very good things about the resort. I have spent time there on the beach and snorkling. As for things to take.
Sunblock (even in Dec.)
Pepto or Pepcid(incase of Stomach ache)
Can-Do map(www.cancunmap.com)
Maybe a light sweater for the evenings

As for things to do.
Isla Mujeres is a must.
Xel-Ha and Tulum are very good.
Go to La Isla Mall during the evening.
Check out Market 28 downtown Cancun.

Best clubs would be
Coco Bongo
Christine's
Senor Frogs

As far as things to get.
Bottled water
Souviniers from Market 28 or La Isla
and most important a TAN.

If you have anymore questions just ask.

By the way when are you going to be there. I will be there from Dec. 10th to the 15th.

Have Fun

Tommy
Lisa Nov 10th, 2000 07:57 PM

Hi Tommy. We're planning on getting married in Cancun in January. Just wondering if you know any great resorts that would organize the wedding for us. Basically what we want is an all-inclusive resort that that would put us in a fabulous room for a couple nights after the wedding. We are planning on staying for 2-3 weeks. Price doesn't really matter. Thanks Lisa

tommy Nov 12th, 2000 08:17 PM

Hey Lisa,

Here's the 2 best, The Crown Paradise Club and the Palace Resorts. They will both organize the wedding for you and they throw in some extras to go along with the trip. The Crown is very, very beautiful as is most of the Palaces resorts. The best Palace one to checkout would be the Moon.

Hope this helps

Tommy

Kathy.Goerke Nov 13th, 2000 09:36 AM

Okay, maybe I'll give Cancun a try. Been to the Acapulco Princess and loved it of course (12 years ago), but my husband was sick for two months after we returned, even though we never left the hotel. Now I have three children to take as well--What is the best place to stay with 2 adults, 3 children in same room with lots of activities for the kids and maybe even golf for my husband. Something like to Acapulco Princess would be great with families, not couples, and they would have to let 5 of us stay together. And I guess, all inclusive would be good as well. Would love to go to La Cabana in Aruba, but the airfare is $2500+ for the 5 of us. Also, can't go 'till end of June--is it too brutally hot at that time in Cancun, or does it rain too often? Sorry about all the questions, I know nothing about Cancun.

tommy Nov 13th, 2000 03:04 PM

Hey Kathy,

As for a place to stay it would definatly be the Crown Paradise. A very lovely resort and the will allow 2 adults and 3 kids in a room. They are the only resort in Cancun that has it's own kids water park. Golf is not very far from the resort(only about a mile or so). Another onee to consider is the Yalmakan. I will be staying there this Dec. with my kids and I'll see how good it is(got an very good deal, 7 nights for $2350 including air and all-inclusive). Both of those are all-inclusive resorts. As for the Temps in June highs run in the low to mid 90's with lows in the 70's.

Hope this helps

Tommy

Kathy Goerke Nov 14th, 2000 05:37 AM

This helps alot, thank you. Would you be good enough to let me know when you return from the new site you are visiting how it went and where you got that kind of a price!! How many children are you taking for that deal. Thanks for your help.

tommy Nov 14th, 2000 11:35 AM

Hey Kathy,
I will email you when I return on how the Yalmakan is. I got that deal through Adventure Tours. The have flights out of Dallas. You might check out their website www.atusa.com or for other parts of the country checkout www.mltvacations .com or www.funjet.com

These are charter companies and all have very good rates.

Tommy

Timbo Dec 9th, 2000 03:41 PM

marsha Dec 12th, 2000 01:59 PM

adrianne Dec 13th, 2000 11:41 AM

Hi Tommy,
Ijust found Chalet Maya on the web.it looks beautiful..do you know anything about it? Do you have any reccomendations for a small laid back hotel on the beach? Also do you know of any package offers from newark? thanks so much adrianne

Heidi Dec 26th, 2000 01:48 PM

looking for the best snorkeling in cancun, perhaps some lesser known tours? we have been there 4 times

Rob T Dec 26th, 2000 05:27 PM

Tommy,
My wife really wants to stay busy in the water, motorized and non. A Great beach is paramount, she's either moving, or totally comotose in the sun. A well equipped Fitness center and spa facilities are a must. Pretty open on pricing. Where should we stay in Cancun?

Thanks

jennifer Jan 7th, 2001 07:22 PM

Tommy,

Have you ever heard of a tour company called Funjet Vacations? I found a great deal from Baltimore, MD to Cancun with this tour company but I have never heard of it. Any information you have on this tour company I would love. Thank you.

Jen

Sean Jan 8th, 2001 07:04 AM

Tommy-

I would love to get back to Cancun in the near future. My wife and I were there in the spring of 1998. We stayed at the Oasis. Have you heard anything negative about the Oasis since then. I know that they have rules about bringing food and beverages on site, but we thought it was a great place. Also, what would be a comparable alternate hotel?

Sean

tommy Jan 8th, 2001 07:54 AM

Hey Sean,

Hate to bring you bad news but, I have heard many negative comments about Oasis recently. Seems like the springbreakers have really run down the resort and the staff is not to good anymore. As for a comparable I highly recommend the Flamingo. Great location, great staff. They have it all.

tommy Jan 8th, 2001 07:57 AM

Hey Jennifer,

Yes I have heard of Funjet. It is one of the popular charter companies in the US. I haven't heard any negatives about it. Yu can get great deals from them. I'm thinking of using them on my next trip.

Tommy

Todd Jan 8th, 2001 10:33 AM

Hey Tommy,
My buddies and I are heading to Cancun for the first time, I have two questions.
First, what should I expect when traveling on Apr 13,(good friday)for two weeks and;
Second, can you tell me about the El Publito hotel. Thanks a lot and have a good day!

Karen Jan 8th, 2001 01:07 PM

Hi Tommy,
How do I get info on travelling to see the ruins from Cancun? Would like to go to Chichen Itza...also, should we rent a car in cancun if we are staying for a week, can we park the car at the ferry dock to catch the ferry to cozumel? Can you do reasonable day trips to cozumel? Thanks for any info

tommy Jan 8th, 2001 09:21 PM

Hey Todd,

I will teel you how it really will be at that time. There won't be a lot of crazy springbreakers at this time the go home at the end of March or the first week of April. What you will find is this is one of the biggest Mexican holidays there is and quite a few Mexican families will be there at this time. As for the El Pueblito, I think it is a very nice resort. It is locatd in the southern part of the hotel. It has a wonderful beach and the casacading pool and slide are awesome. Very good service and food.

Hope this helps

Tommy

tommy Jan 8th, 2001 09:29 PM

Hey Karen,

If you want to book the trip to Chichen Itza ahead of time I would suggest to go to www.cancunsunrise.com I always use them to go on tours in Cancun. They can give you a real good deal. as for renting a car I have never done it in Cancun and I would tend to shy away from it because The bus system is so good in Mexico. I'm not sure about parking the car for the ferry ride but I will find out and email you. The best way I think to go to Cozumel is take the bus from downtown Cancun to Playa(cost about $5) then hop the ferry over to Cozumel. Total time on the trip will be about 1 1/2 hours.

Hope this helps

Tommy
