YIKES 280 euro for a wine tour

Could anyone please recommend a tour company in tuscany that is a bit more reasonable? 280 pp is more than we can handle for a winery tour. Thanx

Not for wine aficionados, but a nice trip to a Tuscan winery.

Hi E,

Do you wish to visit wineries or just taste wine?

If the latter, any decent enoteca will do.

Where will you be staying?

Hi, We will be in Siena and are interested in the whole history of the vineyard, the ambience etc. We can drink a bottle anywhere but are trying for the tuscan experience

If you have a car, check out Fattoria dei Barbi winery just outside Montalcino. We took the tour, which was free at the time, and found it very interesting. The tasting - Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino - was varied. Olive oil, too. The lunch at the Taverna on the property, easily one of the best meals of our two trips to Italy. And it has a museum on the property up the hill from the restaurant. Much more extensive than I would have expected.

thanks for the info. Sounds like a great place. How far of a drive do you think it is from Siena?

It was an easy drive about an hour south of Siena.
