Would Someone Explain Weather Readings, Please??
<BR>I am trying to track the weather in certain cities in Switzerland on a chart for the next 2 weeks and cannot do not understand the confused readings I am getting on Weather Underground and Yahoo Weather. These are examples: <BR> <BR>Interlaken: 4/28/00 16:00 UTC <BR>64F/18C High: 55F/13C <BR> <BR>Lugano: 4/28/00 18:20 UTC <BR>54F/12C High: 73F/23C <BR> <BR>Now how can the High for the day be 55 degrees when at 16:00 UTC it was 64F? And for Lugano, if 18:20 UTC is early evening hours and is 54F, how can the High for the day be 73F?? <BR> <BR>Can someone please explain this to me to that I can understand them for any other readings I want to chart. I have also tried Yahoo Weather and they do not always give the weather for a certain time of the day. Does any one know of a site which will give me the "actual" true farenheit reading for a city like Interlaken etc. for a particular time of day or evening? Most are just giving me "highs" and "lows" and they do not seem the actual temperatures when I do find the true report after intense searches Thanks for any and all help! <BR>

I've noticed that the Yahoo weather site can be pretty bad. They will say a certain area is sunny, and their satellite photo only shows the heavy cloud systems so the area does look clear. However if you check the CNN photo, you will see that there are thin/overcast clouds over that same area. Also, Yahoo will post their icons for the five day weather, and as the days go by, you see they are quite inaccurate as the icons change drastically. In the winter, they were always putting in snow icons when there wasn't a chance of it, or vice-versa. I agree with D.B. Yahoo is particularly unreliable. For my part of the world, north central Italy, Yahoo usually says it as at least 10 degrees warmer than the actual temperature. CNN and weather underground, for me are the best. The former for current conditions, the latter for historical data.

Norena, <BR>The weather services pull conditions from METAR data they get from available Wx stations - provided the stations are working. METAR data does not show HI/LO info. - the various weather services will use a program probably run once a day to update their historical info. <BR> <BR>If it's accurate (as possible) data you want, try http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/CH_cc.html . <BR> <BR>You'll see that you can't get Interlaken weather, but you can get Lugano. <BR>It will give you actual current (last reported) conditions and a 24 hour summary. <BR>hth,

Just for the fun of it, I just checked Yahoo for Rome. <BR>They got the temperature right, but the conditions report is hilariuos. They gave 'partly suny' at 1 pm. Heck, it's been *solid* overcast with rain all the day. At one clock it was pouring, with say a 3 km or less visibility. November didn't get any worse. <BR> <BR>Marco
