Woo-Hoo! I'm going to France (Delta had airfare on sale)
After two months of checking almost every morning, Delta airfare from Cincinnati to CDG direct dropped this morning for late April. It went from $830 to $495. It departs on a Thursday and returns on a Sunday which are usually more expensive days.
I've been waiting and getting worried, but it finally dropped. 9 nights in Lyon, Beaune and Dijon here I come!

Anoather secret is check as close to 7:00am in the morning East Coast US time as you can. You want to beat out all the early shoppers on the East Coast. Sorry left-coasters that makes it rough on you.
Out of curiousity I'll check the exact flights this afternoon and see what the price is.

Woo-Hoo!!!!! I just logged in to share my news also and you already posted!! I booked this morning for a two week trip the last two weeks in April. I have been dragging my feet for some unknown reason, checked this morning and my flight dropped $300!! I also have been checking at least once a day with about 10 different websites for the last 2 months. I got an open jaw flight from Philadelphia to Paris and out of Marseille back to Philadelphia for...$370!! I am jumping out of my seat, I am so thrilled!

Depending on how compulsive you feel, I would recommend:
1. Orbitz
2. SmarterLiving.com
3. Cheap Flights forum of eurotrip.com
4. Frommers.com (get their newsletter; mine arrives at 11 pm most nights; I have never seen it "preview" news that will come later the next day, but it can catch things I failed to see earlier in the day).
5. Expedia and/or Travelocity (you can sign up for FareWatcher on both, I think)
6. Sign up for news/e-mailings from specific airlines, if you think they might help in your prticular city of origin.
The best deal I ever got in my life came from #3. Evansville, Indiana to Rome, roundtrip, in May 2001, BUSINESS CLASS for $899. Six seats bagged at that price. Not likely to happen again in my lifetime.

Thanks Keren, Nikki, Rex, Scarlett and everyone. I appreciate the kind words.
mda97 that's a fantastic deal for an open-jaw! That'll help keep down your vacation costs.
Rex what a deal for business class you got and from Evansville, IN of all places. I'm like you, I don't think you'll ever see that again. I'm looking forward to the GTG.
jmw44 I checked Orbitz almost every morning. Today it showed the ticket price. I went directly to www.delta.com and booked the flight there. Again I think the key is early in the morning US East Coast time. The new fares seem to be released in the very early AM East Coast time.
I'd signed up for Orbit's deal detector to see how it worked. I received an e-mail from them around 10:30am giving details of the Delta sale. I re-checked and the $495 is still available right now for the flights I booked.
FYI a year ago in April I spent $506 for a Cincinnati to Paris ticket through Newark. In Nov last year $600 for a non-stop from Cincy to Paris was the best I found.
Oh, and I was going to go to France anyway, but saving the $300 makes it that much nicer.

I was looking for tickets to Frankfurt for the middle of May and low and behold called TFI tours in New York and got 4 from Chicago to Frankfurt non-stop for 1458.00 on Air India. Been across the pond 9 different times and never brought from the same company. Like they say keep calling and checking the net. It is worth the time.
