WHY? WHY? WHY?
Have you happened to notice that there are a few people here that also love to talk about great things in Europe? I think people generally point out differences among countries and cultures, not to proclaim "our" perfection, but only to point out differences. In this forum I find the positive outweighs the negative, in terms of issues and attitudes.

1) I believe that in general people are more prone to make an effort to express a negative opinion than a positive one, partly because it is a means of venting frustration. A positive notion doesn't "stick in the craw" and yearn to be turned loose like a negative one...though sharing a positive is certainly pleasurable.
2) Negative newsworthy information seems to garner more attention than positive info, if the media's bias toward reporting negative news is a reliable indicator. Since they spend large amounts of money canvassing and modifying their casts to maximize audience retention, I'd bet this is more than a coincidence.
3) There is a tremendous amount of positive info/favorable opinions shared in this forum...perhaps because many are discussing something they are passionate about and greatly enjoy.
4) What is it that prompted this post?
