Why the plural usage?

I've read in this forum again and again, the use of 'we' 'our' and 'us' while responding to questions, when there is only one name responding. Why?

hmmm...maybe because most people travel with others...I often write us, or we, referring to my wife and myself...

Because "we" were traveling together but "I" am doing the writing.

OR, maybe it's the queen replying, and she's using the royal "we" 8-)

Because I do the writing and so does she and me, too.

Of course, all the above are correct. I once commented to a honeymooner poster that he shouldn't say "I enjoyed my honeymoon" and "I stayed in a great hotel" unless he wanted the honeymoon to be over pretty soon. More than one person traveling is clearly a "we".

I guess it puts us in context. My "we" refers to my family. And I agree that in a honeymoon, it could only be "we" =)
