I just got rid of my chapter 11 swiss air flight out of San francisco now I have two choices KLM stopping in Amsterdam then to Rome or Delta stopping in New york. Any suggestions or knowledge on each. Help time is running out

Sorry for the name take off ... just couldn't resist.

You won't be wowed by the service on either airline, in all likelihood.

Based on lots and lots of flying, including many trips through Amsterdam, NYC and other major hubs, my vote for reliability would go to the Amsterdam operation. It much easier for things to get screwed up in the NYC flying area.

You'll almost certainly have a change of plane in Amsterdam. (Which wouldn't concern me at all.) Is the Delta service just a "stop" in Kennedy, or a change of planes, or a change of airport?

Do you want to sleep as soon as you get on the plane (KLM), or wait a few hours after you leave NY (Delta)? Do you prefer foreign carriers or US? Do you really want to stop in NY? I prefer foreign carrier, would choose KLM.

Delta probably only has one flight per day from New York to Rome. So if your first flight is late, you will have to wait a day. KLM has 5 or 6 flights per day from Amsterdam to Rome, so even if your first flight is late you will have a connecting flight within a few hours.
