Please share, which neighborhood is your true favorite and why?

I liked the area between Piazza Navona and Ponte Sant'Angelo. Lots of quaint cobblestone streets, little shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. Quiet and charming, yet close to many of the major sites.

I also love the area between Piazza Navona and Ponte Sant'Angelo. Via dei Coronari is a lovely cobblestoned street with antique stores. My two favorite restaurants are in that area, also. Osteria del Pegno, and Le Streghe.

Statia, I never got a chance to ask you. How did you like the apartment when you were there last with your mother?

I prefer the area around Piazza Navona for the same reasons as above. I love the central location and all of the great restaurants and cafes nearby. Very charming. We stayed in an apartment near here in March and truly loved it.

gracie, it worked out really well for us in both location and ammenities. The living room could have been a tad more comfortable, but otherwise it was fine. Mom had her space downstairs and we had ours in the loft. The only downfall was the fact that we had no power all day on my mom's birthday, but we roll with the punches so we and planned around the outage.

We stayed just off the Campo dei Fiori and found it to be convenient to most everything.

It's funny - for years I had been looking (on-line) at this terrific, reasonably priced flat with a view of the Colosseo; it is always booked almost a year in advance, so naturally it was alrady booked by the time we decided to make our trip. I am so glad we didn't end up there. The Colosseo area is not the most convenient or central of areas. Same with the Vatican; same with the Spanish Steps.

Oh my gosh, no power all day? I think I would have either had to stay inside or buy a nice hat. It would have been a bad hair day for me w/o being able to use a hairdryer!!

I know what you mean about the living room. I think it needs a couch on the other side of the room, also.

There are several hotels up on the Aventine Hill where I have stayed. I like that area because it is very quiet with lovely old homes, courtyards and several churches. But it is a bit of a trek up the hill which sometimes at the end of a looong day can be a pain. Its a pretty area tho with nice views down on to the Circus Maximus (I think) and a beautiful rose garden to wander thru in June.
