Where to Pick up rental car in Venice if going to Verona

We are in Venice next week and have ordered a rental car, but want to make sure we choose the best pickup location. No one on the phone (AutoEurope) seems to know. If we are leaving from Venice to Verona, does anyone know of a prefered location?

I would think that the only road access in Venice proper - Pza Roma near the train station would be the only possible place to pick up rentals there

or hop the constant shuttle trains across the lagoon to Mestre station and rent there.

I agree Piazzale Roma. Or take the bus or train to Verona and get the car there.

probably a whole lot cheaper yes to take the train to Verona than drive with $9/gal gas and predatory tolls on the autostrada IME - train can be cheap as about $30 p.p. or lower, depending on type of train.

then if you are staying in Verona a day or so you will not have to pay car rental charges until you come to leave Verona - not much IME between Venice and Verona but after a car is great to putz by Lake Garda, Lake Come, Lake Maggiore, etc.
