What time do I want my entrance to Nasrid Palaces for afternoon visit to the Alhambra?
Hi all,
I'm about to book my Alhambra tickets for mid-October. I'll have access from 14:00-20:00 and understand that I'll have access to most of the Alhambra for the rest of the day as well.
What time should I try to get access to the Nasrid Palaces? I went back and forth a few times in the website and it's giving me several options. I'm a bit overwhelmed with the Alhambra honestly and was hoping for some advice!
Thanks for your help,
PittPurple

As I recall, you'll have access to the REST (not just "most" of the Alhambra all day long; it is only the Nasrid Palace that has that restricted access.
Remember that the Nasrid Palace has a LOT of "empty rooms" with the usual decoration on the walls, ceilings, etc. It can, IMO, easily be done and in the "depth" required during the allotted timeframe...not nearly as overwhelming as it seems.
Personally, I'd try to do it early in the afternoon but the time I was there it was in the Summer and it was HOT.
Have a great visit.

pittpurple,
Your Alhambra ticket will be scanned in 3 places:
at the entrance to the Nasrid Palace, for which you'll have a timed entry slot (for example 14:00-14:30), giving you 30 minutes to enter, but once inside you may stay as long as you wish
at the entrance to the Alcazaba fortress for which there is no timed entry slot
at the entrance to the Generalife Gardens, again with no specific time to enter-you can wander up anytime during the afternoon session, from 14:00-20:00.
So, when purchasing your tickets, choose a timed slot for the Nasrid Palaces that best suits your schedule. If you don't like the first entry time the Servi Caixa booking engine gives you, just reject it and try again, and keep trying until you receive a time that you like. You might want to have your husband on another computer doing this at the same time. When we bought our tickets in Feb., I went through the process several times before I was given a time slot that we both wanted. And once you start the process, you have only 5 min. to complete the transaction.
In mid-October, I wouldn't choose a time slot for the Nasrid Palace any later than 4:30 because of the light.
And remember that you can stroll the grounds at any time, you can walk up the Calle Real de la Alhambra past the church, the bookshop, all the way up to the Parador without a ticket, and entrance to the Palace of Charles V is free-no ticket required. But the Museum of the Alhambra within (where you can see the only restored lion from the Patio of the Lions in the Nasrid Palace) closes at 2:30 and is closed Sun.,Mon.
