What shall we do?

I will be going on my honeymoon in Europe this summer. We will be leaving June 19 and returning July 3. My fiance has planned on flying into Paris and driving to Burgundy. After enjoying the wine, we plan to take the train to Geneva, Venice, Florence, and finally to Rome.

Can anyone recommend places to stay, restaurants to try, and things to do (both the obvious and the unique!)

I look forward to the responses!!!!

Mer-- you posted a month ago, same tittle. Somebody kindly suggested you post with a more informative, grabbing tittle. I I suggest you click on your name and the old post will come up with about 6 responses.

To be totally honest 6 mayor cities/regions on 12 days sounds like crazy honeymoon plans to me. I recommend you go back to the drafting board, and either stick with France (Paris/Burgundy region), or at a maximum pick two home bases.

In recommending places to stay, well, there are $40/night hotels and $400/night hotels. What's your budget? As far as things to do, what are your likes/dislikes?

First thing I would do is scratch your present plans and start again.

I would also recommend your spending a bit of time researching on this board and coming back to ask specific questions.

Meredith dear.....please slow it down...take a deep breath, or your honeymoon will become a blur with the itinerary you've set up...first of all, you immediately lose three days for overseas travel, time change , etc...leaving you 13-14 days TOTAL...and those fourteen days you'll be all over the map. Please reconsider and zero in on only three targets..Paris, Burgundy and possibly Provence or Switzerland....going as far as Rome is utterly beyond good sense. Once you do slow it down, then I'm sure we on the board will be happy to share information. In all honesty.....

Rather than staying in Geneva take the train out along the lake to the pretty smaller towns there like Morges, Lausanne, Vevey and Montreux... much nicer!! Stay in one of these instead. I'd pick Montreux for a honeymoon.

Mer-- not sure why you are now posting under a different name to get your replies (??), I certainly hope you are getting a good sense of the advice given. Since you will have about 12 days max to do this whirlwind tour/honeymoon (6/19-7/3; take out 2 days travel and one "floating" arrival day), I was wondering what city/region you and your fiance feel you MUST visit.

Hi M,

2 weeks is fine for Venice, florence and Rome.

It is fine for Paris and Burgundy.

It is lovely for Switzerland and either some of France and some of Italy.

Your itinerary is not a good idea. You lose at least 1/2 day each time you change locations.

5 days of your expedition will be lost to travel. You will not have enough time to enjoy those places where you briefly alight.
