Two immediately come to mind: <BR>1. The thrill of seeing the Grand Canal as you emerge from the train station in Venice. <BR>2. The sight of The Pieta in St. Peter's. It literally brought tears to our eyes.

Good question! <BR> <BR>1. The Rhine - a man I work with told me about his time in WWII right before I made my first trip, he was in the Battle of the Bulge. Seeing the Rhine and reflecting on everything he told me made it so real for me. <BR>2. Neuschwanstein Castle from a road below the castle. We drove throughout Germany and found a flea market in <BR>Schwanstein. As we were leaving we looked up and saw the castle amid a veil of mist ~ beautiful! <BR>3. The green green country side of Germany ~ they should have their own color of green in the crayon box! (No, I haven't seen Ireland yet, that I know has to be another crayon color on its own!) <BR>4. The glaciers of Greenland from the plane ~ so unexpected. <BR>5. My husband & my 4 yr. old daughter picking me up from the airport after my solo trip to Europe. <BR> <BR>What is a trip to Europe worth if it doesn't make you appreciate what you have at home!

1) Florence (pref. at night) from the Piazza Michelangelo. I never miss it when I go to Florence <BR> <BR>2) San Gimigniano nestling in the hills from a little hotel nearby called Il Pescille <BR> <BR>3) Crossing Waterloo Bridge (London) at night, with Parliament and the London Eye to my left and St Pauls to my right. When I was a child, my parents used to bring me to London for day trips and the sight of these places made me feel like I was on a film set. I still get that thrill even though I've lived here now for 5 years.

The chimney pots of London from the top of a bus driving into the city from Heathrow on my first trip abroad. (Kind of made you want to jump up and sing chim chim charee.) Coming down out of the fog from Mt. Pilatus and seeing what appeared to be Heidi's grandfather's hut on the mountainside below. The mountains on the drive from Garmisch P. to Innsbruck. The Grand Place in Brussels. Sorrento; the view from Anacapri; Lake Lucerne--I've told you all before that I don't have any discrimination. <BR>

Another vote for the scene in front of the Venice train station.I felt like Dorothy walking out of her house into Oz.

I was actually flying to South Korea, but we flew over the Mackenzie Mountains in Alaska. Miles and miles of brown, snow-capped mountains and blue, blue skies. It was desolate but so beautiful. I think what made it so special was that everyone on the plane was asleep and I put a blanket over my head to peek out the inch of window I opened and I was the only one in the cabin that got to see the view at that point. <BR> <BR>But I will let you know my most memorable view when I fly to Europe tomorrow afternoon, yippeee!

1. The Swiss Alps on my honeymoon, emerging from the train after traveling and the realization that not only am I married to this wonderful man, but I'm in Europe. <BR>2. Notre Dame from the Air France bus - first time in Paris. <BR>3. The Pieta - how could anyone have tried to ruin this masterpiece. <BR>4. The David

Not exactly Europe, but the view of the old city of Jerusalem early in the morning from the Mount of Olives. The sunlight hitting the Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mount was something else!

my most memorable veiw of europe was driving to paris from the ferry in caen with my lover. <BR>there was the most incredible sunrise that morning,a dazzling gold in a bright blue sky. it was the beginning of a perfect trip. <BR>i will treasure it in my mind forever.

Looking across Lake Lucerne in the autumn with the alps covered with the first winter's snow. <BR>

The Matterhorn and surrounding mountains from Gornergrat top my list (although every view in Switzerland is memorable).

1. The ring of Kerry: waking at dawn and, as the mist lifted over the next hour, seeing each mountain range appear gradually changing colour from grey to purple to green. Driving through the Ring on a sunny day, through the Gap seeing every shade of green imaginable and the shadows of the clouds racing across the valley. <BR> <BR>2. First time back to Paris after several years. Standing on Pont des Arts <BR> <BR>3. Prague: felt like I was transported back in time <BR> <BR>4. Not Europe, but the MOST stunning was from the top of Moses mountain as the sun came up after a riotous camel ride and a gruelling hike.

The view out over the Vézère valley from my front door, especially in late spring when the fruit trees are all in bloom and there's a froth of pink and white mingling with the smoke from the farmers' chimneys, and the alluvial fields are brilliant green with freshly planted corn.
