Oh gosh....there were so many. The Parthenon in Athens; Stonehenge; the Duomo in Florence; the Colliseum in Rome; the Grand Canal in Venice; the Giza Pyramids and Valley of the Kings in Egypt; Istanbul's Agia Sofia; Cappadocia in central Turkey....so many, it's like comparing apples and oranges.

The view from the side or top of just about any hill in the Dingle Peninsula, Ireland. Or anything else in Ireland.

Big Ben at night from the other side of the Thames, especially if it is ringing out the hour.

Any view of or from the ruins of Tintagel Castle, Cornwall.

The view of the Irish coast and Dun Laoghaire port emerging from the fog as my ferry from Wales approached it in the early morning, knowing the entire country was mine to explore for two weeks.

The fresco on the wall of a sunlit church in Carona, a village above Lago Lugano.

For pure kitch value, the image of all those crazy Las Vegas casinos piled up on top of each other, practically spitting distance from where my plane rolled to a stop on the runway there.

Glancing down from the top of the Leaning Tower in Pisa and seeing two lovers embracing in the piaza below.

And the view from a lying down position just after waking from a nap on a Swiss mountainside - with the cowbells ringing as the cows grazed not far away.

Looking down on Florence from a street in Fiesole and the Grand Canal in Venice from our hotel. Another couple of nice views of Florence were enjoyed when we finished the climb up to San Minotto & also at "La Porta di Firenze"--the door to the city of Florence from back when it was a walled city. In Avignon, the Papal Palace & the Cathedral.
Kathy
