samsaf, Thank you Sherry. And dear OWJ. My heart breaks for her. Life is hard sometimes but she is strong. Am glad they are getting away next weekend.

I am having a quite weekend at home, that seems to work for me right now.

Beachbum, just heard back. Well I guess that's the last bottle of malt whisky I'll be buying for a time... @-)

JDraper--Paolo's Gelato is in Virginia- Highland at the corner of Virginia Ave and Highland, next to the Thai restaurant and across from a gas station. I just looked him up and he even has a website http://www.paolosgelato.com

Good stuff! Let me know when you're in town and I'll meet you for some ;-)

OneWanderingJew Oct 30th, 2004 02:33 PM

And by playing on Paolo's website, I learned he's in Charleston too! Hmmm, maybe a night in Savannah and then a night or two in Charleston--we'll just travel the south and find all the gelaterias so we can do a trip report on that. LOL

(I better find out where the gyms are too!!!)

I have put on my dinner suit, except that I am wearing my dark- Burgundy, velvet smoking jacket.

I have taken the Plymouth gin from the freezer and am keeping it cold in a silver ice bucket, alongside the spray mister of dry vermouth.

In the oven, I am keeping the Chateaubriand Bouquetierre and the souffle de pomme de terre warm.

The Walnut/Stilton/baby greens salad is in the fridge.

I have arranged for the IL Gelato people in Watkinsville to bring an assortment of gelato to go with the Vin Santo and the biscotti (which I baked this morning).

Yes I am seducing my Lady Wife. :)

LoveItaly Oct 30th, 2004 02:52 PM

mvor, thank you for you kind thoughts, they are appreciated.

And limencello!!! I did have some in my freezer but guest arrived and after dinner - well you know the rest of the story I am sure. Limencello was "gone".

Have never made it, but certainly love drinking it. Enjoy a glass for me.

All I have is wine, sigh, ((D))

cigalechanta Oct 30th, 2004 03:06 PM

ira, I can picture you, as Christopher Walken, ala, The Continental, on SNL.

Beatchick Oct 30th, 2004 03:12 PM

Right now? I'm typing my answer to this thread. A moment ago I was reading the thread. Prior to that I was reading the TITLE to this thread!!

LoveItaly Oct 30th, 2004 03:25 PM

Beatchick, ROTFL! Yes, that is what we are all doing. :x

Carmen Oct 30th, 2004 04:00 PM

Ira, maybe you should write a book too. That sounds delish!

Beatchick Oct 30th, 2004 04:01 PM

And NOW? I'm responding to you, LoveItaly!! :D

LoveItaly Oct 30th, 2004 04:15 PM

Beatchick, and I am responding to you again. LOL. Busy Saturday night, right??

Am suppose to go over to a friends house in a bit but having a glass of wine at the moment, munching on some potato chips and thinking "with the week I have had, staying home seems a good idea".

Cin,cin

cigalechanta Oct 30th, 2004 05:25 PM

Waiting for Degas.

i_am_kane Oct 30th, 2004 05:47 PM

So, Carlos...did you Salsa/Merengue tonight? Maybe you're still out there on the dance floor. I just watched the movie "Havana Nights." Fabulous dancing!

Beatchick Oct 30th, 2004 06:01 PM

LoveItaly, by now, we've established what I'm doing RIGHTNOW on this thread ~ LOL.

So let me tell you what my son is doing. He has just made homemade caramel in our copper saucepan and we are figuring out ways to put it to good use. So far the most popular idea is to create a caramel-spun cage to imprison Scott Peterson. :)

Scarlett Oct 30th, 2004 06:09 PM

Sigh, sweet crunchy apples in caramel, caramel popcorn, caramel drizzled on ice cream, where is that boy?? Send him to Florida! :)

What am I doing right now?
Trying to relax after a very hectic day..where else, on Fodors~
