Welsh Castles Website
If you're interested in Wales or Castles or both, check out www.castlewales.com, one of the most impressive websites I've ever seen.
Thanks,Dave. Am going to Wales in the fall. Found a wonderful site for GB narrow gauge railroads, but none for the castles. The Welsh Tourist Board will send lots of info, but we're so spoiled by the Internet. Have you been to Wales? If so, do you have any opinion on the Vale of Rheidol Railway to Devil's Falls from Aberystwyth? Thanks.

Kam,

I was in Wales for a few days last summer. Unfortunately I didn't visit the Vale of Rheidol. I spent one day in Cardiff and several on the North coast (stayed in Conwy, visited Bangor, Beaumaris, Dolwyddelan).

As with the rest of the UK, there's so much to see in such a small space, and yet Wales seems to be largely overlooked by tourists - at least compared to places like Stratford, Warwick, etc - which is fine by me

Kam: I took the Vale of Rheidol Railway last year and would definitely recommend it. The scenery was lovely and the whole excursion had a very enjoyable toy-train atmosophere. I remember that the volunteers running the train were friendly and obviously having a good time, too. I also went on the Ffestiniog Railway, and found it very interesting and enjoyable. I'm not a gung-ho rail buff, just somebody who enjoys riding trains, and I didn't ride any of the other Welsh lines, so I can't give an "educated" opinion -- just the opinion of a tourist who really loved Wales and wants to go back.
