WARNING etc...
Some how I can't post to the WARNING... EUROPE post so I'm placing my comments here
------
I see Ursula is living up to her screen "handle"
I hope she will reconsider. I've met Art at a Fodors' gathering -- he's a really nice and interesting guy

S. Fowler:

Well, I am sorry but it's true: I do not care for beer that much and I will be very in September.
But I would love to go to Munich, no question. It's not that far.
... and did I say anything that Art was not a really nice and interesting guy?? ;-)

So, Sally, any idea how to fix such a meeting. Maybe Art could organize that, don't you think so? I would even go to Munich. I could still drink a hot chocolate... or a glass of champagne!
Let's see, whether he turns up with a good idea besides the Octoberfest!

Sally: I just discover that you topped a thread for me. Thanks. No interest at all about going to Poland and Romania, sorry.
We'll be going to Djerba Island, South Tunisia, Northern Africa, in October. Just sun, fun and (almost) nothing to do! And I definitely cannot go to Munich when they are scheduled to be there!

We changed planes to and from Rome at the Munich airport. Does that count for going to Munich? I wanted to do a stop-over but Lufthansa wanted to charge me $800 more for that "privilege". The airport was nice. About every 3 minutes they wanted to see your passport and ran it through an infrared machine to see if it was legit. My wife suggested that they ought to just put a tatoo on our forehead. Hmm... She thought the Germans were a little uptight.(Maybe suffering from a beer deficiency.) In Rome and San Francisco they didn't seem to care if you had a passport or not as long as you didn't have any meat(SF). In Munich, this seemed to really aggrevate the French travelers. They were getting very loud and belligerent.( And you thought only American tourists acted that way.) Something about all of the EU follows the rules, except Germany, which gets to make its own rules.
Ursula: I would go visit Munich. Its only a few hours from where you are. You don't have to drink beer there to enjoy yourself. I had to quit drinking years ago(it was interfering with my travel among other things), but I still want to go back to Munich. I loved it back when I could drink beer but think I still could enjoy it. By contrast, I found Zurich pretty but very dull. No offense. I'd be willing to try Zurich again too.
Don't forget to bring you "papers".

Gerry
