Gianetta,

do you mean a week before you stay at Acqui Terme or during your stay there? And what time of year?

Piedmont has zillions of attractions to offer, Turin, the wine country, the lakes, fabulous resturants, hill-top towns and castles, ancient ruins, old abbeys, mountains and the list could go on.

If you key in Piedmont on the search function on the top of the forum you can read many suggestions from people who have stayed in Piedmont.

I would think that if you are going to be here in Acqui for ten days, that you might want to go to Liguria for a week. Of course, this depends, as Sampi says, on what time of year you are coming here. You could conceivably spend some time in Camogli, or a bit further south, in Lerici, Portovénere or Tellaro. The last three destinations I have listed are south of the Cinque Terre on the Gulf of Poets, it is a stunningly beautiful part of the Mediterranean. Lerici is about a 2.25 hour drive from Acqui, and I am a strong proponent of the Piemonte-Liguria vacation concept...the best of both worlds- mountains and sea!

Gianetta,

I agree with bellacqui if you will be staying for 10 days in Acqui Terme you will have plenty of time to explore the Piedmonte region incl. Torino. I concur with her suggestion of visiting the Southern Ligurian Coast for a week, depending on the time of year.

Last June we spent 5 nights in Acqui Terme and 4 nights in Lerici on the Ligurian coast. We loved Acqui Terme and our time in Piedmonte. Definitely could have spent more time, particularly due to the fabulous place we stayed in Acqui Baur B&B (www.baurbb.com).

We also loved Lerici and thought 4 days was not quite enough. While there we visited Portovenere and Cinque Terre by boat, spent a day on a private beach near Tellaro, visited the Carrara marble caves, and explored a lovely inland town called Sarzana.

I agree that the combo of mountains and sea was fabulous!

I noticed Baur B&B was closed after Sep. How would visiting that area be mid to late October?

It is just our general plan for 2007, because we are thinking about getting some restructuring on an outer building done in October of next year. The area itself is well worth seeing and visiting in October. This October was fabulous. Absolutely stellar. THe guests did tons of wine tours, biking, hiking, etc. Definitely a time of year to consider.

I completely agree with Bellacqui, October is a super time to visit Piedmont, the weather is usually stil quite warm but not hot, grapes harvests in, many festivals and the beginning of white truffle season.
