Visiting Normandy

Any tips on visiting Normandy? I'm looking at Gites-de-France for places to stay. Has anyone stayed at Le Rosier (east of Caen) or Gite #886 near the A84? Any tips on getting out of CDG by train to Normandy and renting a car? What would be a good destination for that?

To get to Normandy by rail you take the train from the Gare St-Lazare. Buying tickets online ahead of time from www.voyages-sncf.com can save you money. I would take the train to Caen, as there are many more possibilities for rental cars there than elsewhere. I always arrange my rentals ahead of time from AutoEurope.
