Virtualtourist.com

Couldn't find the original posting here, but someone suggested this site and it really is very, very cool. Haven't quite figured out the organization yet, and the forum isn't as active as this one, but the personal webpages are easy to set up and fun to visit.

I did sign up on virtualtourist after seeing the post. I am so busy with my own Web site, it is hard to find time to do much with virtualtourist, but it is fun to look at some of the sites. The rating thing seems like it might be a bad concept though.

Diane,
I think it was me who suggested V.T. It is indeed very very cool and since I started making my own travel pages there I am so addicted that I hardly have time for anything else! I must admit that the discussion forum is not so active but exploring the other members' travel experiences is just so wonderful. I'm on holiday (on my PC) every spare minute I have!

Admittedly I only visited that site once, but it seems users spend an inordinate amount of time rating each other's web sites, then arguing about the ratings. Its focus seems to be more on web site design than on practical aspects of travel.

It seems that you missed the good pages! There are tons and tons of information with the most beautiful pictures, especially when you search for members that live in the specific country/town you would like to visit. And what's wrong with a nicely designed website? Fine to look at!
There has indeed been irrelevant annoyance regarding the rating system and I hope we've had it.
