Just returned. Stayed at Pensione Accademia and loved it. Room 29 was perfect for two singles. Breakfast was ample with rolls, cereals, yogurt and honey, fresh fruit and wonderful hot chocolate. Is located in a quiet area away from the noise and the crowds. Other choices might be Hotel American which is close to Accademia, or Hotel Flora, which looked charming and is convenient to the attractions. Be sure to visit the island of Burano -- a delightful island filled with houses painted the colors of the rainbow. Had planned to spend a couple of hours there, and wound up spending the entire day. Only regret was allowing only four nights in Venice. Have a great time.

We stayed at Hotel Gabrielle in Venice and we had
already checked out the Academia ect...Sorry but we
wanted a little more upscale. Venice is expensive
but we were there in nov. and were able to stay at
the Gabrielle on the canal front for half price.
The hotels will negotiate off season. It was worth
every penny.
