Using iPad in Germany?

Has anyone yet used their iPad in Germany?

How is the wifi? Or did you have a 3G model?

It's no different then using the iPhone or iPod Touch, 3G will incur roaming charges. WiFi is free when using a hot spot. You might want to check in the Boingo WiFi service for the iPad/iPod/iPhone (www.boingo.com/) when traveling.

Wifi coverage is pretty good in Germany. McD, BK, Starbucks, or similar places usually offer Wifi for free.
Almost every hotel chain I know or stayed at had Wifi, but most chain hotels charge, while smaller/independent hotels or self-catering apartments often offer Wifi for free.
Pay Wifi is also available in many public spots, but since those services are always most costly than a cup of coffee at McDonald's I usually use the free ones.
3G only makes sense if you absolutely have to be connected anywhere, also in the countryside or on the train, and have a good plan that does not incur too steep roaming charges.

As noted wifi will work. Simyo, a German mobile operator will be launching microsim cards soon and, since the iPad is unlocked, you could get one of those and pop it in.

Alternatively, you can try to cut down a regular SIM card as detailed here:
