Tuscan rod maps

I will be traveling around Tuscany for 2 weeks in May and I was told that there are maps that include the side and dirt roads throughout the region. I have the Michelin map atlas, but it does not show all the streets and roads. Anyone heard of these more detailed road maps?

Hi Ron, my name is Kym and I'm doing the same trip from June 2, 1999 for two weeks, then up to Vienna. Do you have any good suggestions. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed about planning this trip. We're driving from Milan to Tuscany and hanging out in Tuscany. Any good suggestions for the coast and can we book a room at one hotel in Tuscany except for Florence and travel from there. Is everything close enough? We're trying not to change hotel rooms every few day. Is it easier to stay in Siena, Pisa, Lucca, etc. HELP, HELP

S

Hi Ron,
I stayed in Tuscany last October in a villa, and before we left, I went into www.chiantinews.it. This is a regional web site full of information. and they sent me a road map of Tuscany, which was very good, plus loads of other information. I also went to the local consulate here in Brisbane and they provided me with a book of maps showing areas and their attractions and explaining the art/history etc. Worth trying for
Email me if you need more.
Ron,

We have spent quite a bit of time in Tuscany and have done very well using a soft-cover atlas called Euro-Atlas - Italy. It is full of blown-up sections of a region and has an amazingly complete index with codes that make it easy to pinpoint places quickly. It's in all the major bookstores and is definitely worth a look. It stays open easily and I definitely prefer turning pages to wrestling with a folded map in a moving car.

A word to Kym -- if you will e-mail me I can pass along some good advice about places to stay -- just don't have time tonight to write a lot of details.

Buon Viaggio!

Ron, If you want the best detailed map
of Tuscany then call The Globe Corner
Book Store in Boston at 800-358-6013 and
order the Kummerly and Frey map. It will
show you every bend in the road---it is the best I have found. Buon Viaggio !
