Trooping the colour
Looks as if we'll be in London during the Trooping of the Colours... Does anyone know if the parade is by ticket only. Any hints on trying to get a view of the Queen when she does the salute off the balcony at Buckingham Palace.

Thanks.

Ed,
You do indeed need tickets to the ceremony and they should have been ordered no later than March 1. There are full dress rehearsals (minus the Queen) on the two Saturdays immediately prior to the formal ceremony. They too require tickets of admission.

Is there any possiblity of standing along the parade route and being able to see? We do not have tickets. Also, if we decide not to go, does anyone know what streets will be closed during the parade? We may go to the British Museum at this time instead.

Ed, Several years ago we viewed the parade from Buckingham Palace to the parade grounds. We arrived early in the morning and had a front row 'seat' on the Mall and was able to see the Queen, Princess Diana, etc. from about 20 feet. The whole event is very colorful and well worth the effort and no tickets involved, just get there early.
