Trip to France, including Mont St. Michel
I am going to Paris with my four children in Late June. Does anybody have any great ideas about things to do at night in Paris with kids? Also, we want to drive out to Mont St. Michel and spend the night. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to stay out there? I would appreciate any and all information. Thanks.

Alison, I can't understand why you want to go to Paris by yourself with 4 children, but if you must, you must. In Paris, you can climb the stairs up the Eiffel tower and the Arc de Triomphe until almost midnight; that should wear them out. The Pompidou Center museum is also open late and has things that kids would enjoy. Of course there is also Disneyland Paris. Regarding Mt. St. Michel, try to stay on the island. There are about 8-10 hotels, the kids will love walking the walls at night. Good luck!

I have a simliar plan for June with my 12 yo. Time Out Paris (also has a web site) has very good info on kids activities & approp. restaurants.
Rick Steves has good sugg on Mt SM
hotels. You can get the TO book thru Amazon etc. Amer movies dubbed or subtitled are a sure bet for some eves.
Also, look into Asterix Parc, near Chas De Gualle, French answer to Hershey park I hear. They have a very slow web site/

Alison -
Everytime someone asks about accomodations on Mont St. Michel, I recommend Mere Poulard. It is pretty much the first hotel you encounter once you walk onto the island. We stayed there the last time we visited and it was lovely. The rooms were very large. We had a triple room with very comfortable beds and a very large bathroom. It also had a great view. We had an incredible meal in their restaurant as well. All around, it was a great experience for myself as well as my daughters (ages 17 & 14 at the time). I would recommend it.

Beth

We just returned from london, Normandy & Paris & spent the night at the Mere Poulard and it STUNK. I would not recommend it. It was right at the entrance to the Mont, which is nice, but the carpet hasn't been replaced in years and there is NO elevator to help with luggage. I would recommend the cheaper places right before the Mont that you could still see it lit up at night -- our view from our room was the Mont's parking lot, which in the middle of the night was full of motorcycle people!!! The Mont is so worth seeing though, we just didn't like that hotel. The person at the desk was very nice, apologized for the noisy night and did reduce our rate, but the room definitely needed updating and I'm sure there were other places to stay. Didn't eat there, but people seem to love the omlettes. The Mont is amazing as you approach it - - looks like something out of a fairy tale. Need any other ideas from there, Normandy or Paris, let me know. Thanks!!!
