Getting from ferry port to Ornos (Mykonos) and to Perissa (Santorini)?

Hi-

Can someone please let me know the best way to get from the ferry ports on Mykonos and Santorini to our hotels in Ornos (Mykonos) and Perissa (Santorini). Is it best to just take a taxi? Local bus (and what bus number)? Any idea on costs?

I also heard something about taking a donkey up a hill or a tram at the port in Santorini. Can anyone shed some light on this??

Thanks so much!

For the trip to Ornos it would be easier for you to use a taxi whether or not you arrive at the new or old port in Mykonos. That said, there are only about 30 taxis on the island. The cost should be about 8 euro and a few more if you let the driver load your baggage.

To take the bus to Ornos you need to walk to Fabrika bus station. The easiest way is to find the cafes along the harbour front and start walking up the side streets you will see there. Keep asking folks though if you are going in the right direction as the design of the streets in Mykonos town were purposely built to confuse (pirates and/or the strong winds, depending who you talk to). I've tried to think of a better way to give you the directions but not been successful so far!

The little buses from Fabrika run every 30 minutes in high season and the journey time is about 10 minutes to Ornos. The bus will have Agios Ioannis on its destination board. The cost is less that 2 euro and you buy the tickets from the small shop facing the bus station.

Thanks Bill. You're now the 2nd person to tell me it's probably easier to take a cab. I'll put on my best NYC hail a cab face and hope for the best and get one of the 30 cabs!
