A Different Side to London: East London Graffiti
Good morning
Yesterday Scott and I spent the afternoon exploring Shoreditch and the graffiti art 'hidden' among the streets and alleys. Some were just amazing, all were very interesting! There were many walking tours, although I can't recommend any because we just set out on our own. They looked interesting though.
Thought I would post the pics of what you can see so if you are looking for something different it may interest you...the area is around the eastern side of Spitalfields Market and the whole are is vibrant on Sundays when other things can be quite quiet.
The photos are at the bottom of the set here on London:

Enjoy!

Jamie, wonderful pics. Thank you! I've always wanted to visit Spitalfields (because I subscribe to that wonderful blog, Spitalfields Life), but I was unaware of the graffiti art. Fantastic. Will have to remember this for my next visit.

Some great photos jamikins. I took a street art walking tour in July with londonwalks.com and saw some of these. Fabulous and can highly recommend the tour if anyone is interested.
Our guide says these are street art not graffiti and that graffiti really refers to gang tags.

Those are great photos! Some I recognized and some were new to me.
I absolutely love Shoreditch. It's probably my favourite neighborhood in London. My salon is there and it takes about 90 minutes to get there from my house but I don't even mind because once I'm there I'm in heaven!

Wow, stunning pictures Jamilkins ! You have some fine talent with a camera. Your night shots are terrific, and the one of St. Pauls is a favourite. I also like the 'peeling paint' ones too.
And you're right, some of the street art/graffiti is literally outdoor fine art.
Thanks for sharing.

at not being cool enough. I'm a mum from the suburbs, I'm definitely not cool enough for Shoreditch! I do justify myself by saying that for five minutes after I walk out of the salon at least my hair is!
